I suppose I do owe you a favour to introduce myself, though.

G'day, dearies. If you've found your way here, that must mean you're also testing out these buggery things - hooray, aren't we all special.
Now then.
The name is Rhaetia, and I'm a wizard currently working for the Wizard Academy in Geffen. Nice place, 'tis. You may or may not have heard of me - if you've been reading any material published within the past couple of years on elemental studies, you've probably come across some of my work. I've heard that the papers 'Ancient Methods of Energy Transformation' and 'Lightning Magic: Leaping Fire' were particularly well-received.

If you've been in the area or around the mage and wizard schools, then you probably know me as that perpetually grinning instructor of the first years at the academy.
Y'know. The crazy one. With the giggles. Yeah, that one.

I can assure you that I'm not (quite) as bad as my reputation puts me out to be.
And besides, life would not be so interesting if everyone followed all the rules all the time!
People like me, we add spice to life. Sure, we might burn your tongue completely off, too, but the experience is usually worth the lasting physical effects!

Looks: Rhaetia is not of any exceptional dimensions, standing at about 5'5" with a slim, but not particularly tiny, build. She's never had to concentrate too much on building muscle - she'll leave that to the knights, thank you - but is not the emancipated model of a scholar who never leaves his or her library, either. Her hair, a rich and glossy black, reaches the middle of her back; she experiments a bit with it, but wears it usually tied up in some way or another - it's quite wavy, and when left to its own devices, gets tangled often. Her face is well-proportioned, with a small nose (albeit a little hooked) and delicate eyebrows framing brilliant green eyes. Her skin doesn't tend to go either towards tan or Whisper-pale, unless she does something extreme; it usually just keeps itself to a very slight bronzey colour.
She generally wears her guild uniform while wandering around the halls of the Academy or teaching, but it's really a gamble as to what she wears when not on-duty - she has an extremely large and varied wardrobe. She seems to prefer luxuriant clothing - whether robes or gowns - and always wears at least a little jewellery, but is known to be more sensible with her dress when wandering through the wilderness. Her favorite colours are dark, rich shades; greens, purples, blues, and reds. Yellow and brown are the only two colours she avoids.

Her PB is Orihime Soletta, of Sakura Taisen.

Personality: Like most wizards of high-ish calibre, Rhaetia is an extremely intellectual person. Unlike most wizards of high-ish calibre, this has led to a few... quirks. She can devour the knowledge of a thick book in a day, and spend an entire month testing through the new theories, ideas, and spells introduced to her by it - if she's not feeling particularly lazy, anyways. She loves practical experiments, tests, and applications of her learning on living subjects - almost to a bit of a frightening degree. (It has been said that, during expeditions to Geffenia, she has a habit of letting loose with maniacal giggles when anything hostile appears.) Aside from the gleefulness, she approaches her work with seriousness... most of the time. After all, seriousness borders on boring, and boring is never fun.

She is a cheerful and outgoing individual, using her learning for interesting conversation (if not always intelligent-seeming), and often interjecting strange (but amusing) remarks into things via her sense of 'humour'. She is sometimes seems to be flighty, but most often this occurs because her brain and mouth operate at speeds that never quite seem to balance out right, and things end up rather jumbled in the end. Rhaetia doesn't seem to mind that some people think she's a twit, insane, or a mixture of the two. In fact, she seems to take enjoyment in the rumorings, as if it's all a large joke! It is extremely hard to offend her in any way - she shrugs most insults off as if they were rain.

She has the heart of a wanderer, and is sometimes consumed by travel-lust; when this hits, only a nice, long excursion will keep her from becoming an annoying, sometimes-unbearable bundle of energy. She's also host to a rather large independent streak, and will often go out of her way to do things in exactly the opposite way that she was told to do them, if given an assignment or instructions that she doesn't agree with. So far, this hasn't managed to get her in too much trouble, but could certainly lead to problems in the future.

Background: Rhaetia was born to a pair of fairly well-to-do merchants in Al de Baran. As they'd capitalized on the opportunities presented by the city (being a choke-point between Rune-Midgard and Schwarzwald), they had more than enough zeny to bring up their daughter - and later, a son - in the lap of luxury. While the boy seemed inclined to follow his parents in their trade and inherit the business, Rhaetia was more likely to be burying her nose in a thick book or watching the flames of the fireplace flickering, rather than listening to boring lectures on economics and supply and demand.
During her twelfth year of life, her parents finally threw up their hands, realized that she was never going to be interested in merchantry, and sent her off to the Mage School in Geffen, setting her up in residence in the dormitories. She took to the subject very well, finally having an outlet for all the things she'd been learning in the books she'd read at home, and although was not at the very top of her class, did fairly well in the rankings. She took up the studies of hybrid elements (she could never decide which she liked dealing with best, and thus overextended herself a little more than slightly by studying all major categories), and when it came time for her graduation exam at the age of sixteen, she was able to find her way home with only a few minor spots of trouble.
She immediately applied to the Wizard Academy (she couldn't stand the thought of becoming an erudite scholar in the Sage tradition - no, making things explode was much more amusing), was accordingly accepted after completing the requirements, and spent the next four years pouring giant amounts of information into her brain. She gave up the hybrid studies after realizing that there were far too many spells for far too little time, and concentrated more in the areas of spirit, water and lightning magic, although always kept her fascination with fire (even if she can barely cast a meteor shower on the heads of people who manage to annoy her; this is probably for the better). Her graduation application, when it finally came around, was extremely well-received, and she was drafted into the Academy to help with field research expeditions, including a few trips into Ancient Geffenia. As she matured in her magic-using abilities, she was also hired on to teach classes on channeling magic over large pieces of area to the younger students.
Since then, she's alternated between those two jobs, sometimes punctuating the cycle with a long exploratory trip to various destinations in both Rune-Midgard and Schwarzwald.

Likes: Sweet foods, stuffed animals (the softer the better!), travel, sparkly objects, fire, and explosions.
Dislikes: Meek and wimpy people (especially women), being ordered to do things, insects/arachnids, and being in tightly enclosed spaces.
